Karry L

Born and raised a fifth generation Montanan, Karry is fortunate to have space in the outdoors where she gains inspiration to create artistically what she holds as her passions.  Karry currently resides in Willow Creek and, at the urging of her sister, began painting murals seven years ago.  What started as a word-of-mouth business quickly snowballed into more than 15 mural commissions a year, totaling more than 50 pieces in the Big Sky area alone. Painting in larger than life expression has not always been Karry’s forte. A lifelong passionate painter and working artist for the past 20 years, Karry works in acrylics, oils, and watercolors on a much smaller scale, creating portraits of Montana landscapes and wildlife. Most recently, Karry ventured into dinnerware.  “Dinnerware is fun because it’s something functional I can turn into a work of art.” Karry’s interpretation of natural elements and wildlife enlivens the spirit of the viewer and the space in which her art resides. “I love to paint.  Everyone who knows me knows I love to paint.  I paint everday, whether it’s in my own studio or someone else’s house,” says Karry. Whether it’s murals, paintings, or dinnerware, there is only one thing Karry likes enough to compete for time committed to painting—horses.  Karry is a proud member of the Willow Creek Cowgirls Collective, a group of 15 women who get together in the summer and ride.
